Saturday afternoon saw the start of the Cup competitions and some league matches also, with plenty of action and goals on show with 28 goals in five fixtures !!!
In The Port Services Cup First Round, Invergordon earned an away tie at Migdale against Bonar Bridge with an unbelievable 7-5 win away at Tain St Duthus. Bonar Bridge themselves caused an upset by defeating Golspie Sutherland 3-2 at Migdale.
In The MSIS North Caledonian League, the United's, Alness (4-0 at home to Bunillidh Thistle) and Halkirk (3-2 away to Dornoch) closed the gap at the top on leaders Thurso, who themselves drew 1-1 at The Dammies to Balintore thanks to a Luke Cassidy leveler after Balintore had held a 1-0 half-time lead.
Next week sees a full programme of league matches as narrow leaders Thurso entertain high scoring Invergordon, Tain St.Duthus travel to Alness United, Balintore take a trip up to Helmsdale to take on Bunillidh Thistle, Dornoch entertain last season's champions Golspie Sutherland and finally Halkirk United play hosts to Bonar Bridge.
All matches kicking off at 3.00 p.m.
